Privacy Policy & Data Protection Practices
Effective Date: September 26, 2026 • Version 2.2
1. Overview and Core Philosophy
ClassPanel ("ClassPanel.online", "we", "us", or "our") operates a suite of web-based classroom timers, randomizers, decision games, and instructional utilities. We believe that educational software must treat user privacy — especially student privacy — as an inviolable baseline rather than an afterthought.
ClassPanel is intentionally architected with a Zero-Account Model. We do not require teachers, students, or visitors to register user accounts, log in with social identity providers, or provide personal email addresses to use any of our interactive tools. We do not collect student educational records, student grades, or personally identifiable student data.
2. Student Data Protection (COPPA & FERPA Compliance)
We are fully dedicated to upholding the stringent requirements of the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and international child safety frameworks:
- No Child Personal Data Collection: We do not knowingly solicit, collect, or process personal data from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in applicable jurisdictions).
-
Local Browser Sandboxing (No Remote Roster Storage): When educators enter student names into the Random Name Picker or Random Group Generator, that roster information is stored exclusively in the educator's local browser storage (
localStorage). That information is never transmitted to, processed by, or stored on our web servers. - FERPA Compliance: Because ClassPanel does not receive, maintain, or disclose student education records or directory data on backend servers, school districts can safely incorporate ClassPanel into their classrooms without breaching FERPA protocols.
3. Client-Side Browser Storage (LocalStorage & Cache)
To preserve your tool configurations between instructional periods without requiring accounts, our tools use standard browser localStorage. Data stored locally includes:
- Rosters and names entered by the teacher in the Random Name Picker or Group Generator.
- Custom timer configurations, presets, and label preferences.
- Audio volume levels and theme toggles (Light/Dark mode).
This data exists solely on your physical device and remains under your total control. You can clear this data at any moment by clicking "Delete Roster" within the relevant tool or by clearing your browser's site data and cache.
4. Third-Party Advertising & Google AdSense Disclosures
To keep ClassPanel 100% free for teachers and schools worldwide, we display unobtrusive banner advertisements served by Google AdSense and third-party advertising partners.
Under Google AdSense policies and privacy regulations, we provide the following required disclosures:
- Cookie Usage: Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to ClassPanel or other websites across the Internet.
- Personalized Advertising: Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visits to ClassPanel and other sites on the web.
- Opt-Out of Personalized Ads: Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info or the Network Advertising Initiative at optout.networkadvertising.org.
We strictly prohibit deceptive, pop-under, or intrusive ad placements that interfere with interactive timers or student visibility.
5. Web Analytics & Performance Measurement
We utilize privacy-conscious web analytics tools to understand aggregate traffic patterns, detect broken links, and optimize site performance:
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4): Collects anonymized, aggregated telemetry such as page views, device types, screen resolutions, and general geographic regions (country/city level). IP addresses are automatically masked and anonymized.
- Microsoft Clarity: Provides aggregated heatmaps and session interaction diagnostics to help us identify usability obstacles (such as unclickable buttons on smartboard touchscreens). Clarity does not record keystrokes or sensitive input fields.
6. Teacher Feedback Submissions & Data Retention
When you choose to submit a note through our Teacher Feedback Form, you provide your message and category, along with an optional name and email address if you request a response. This submission is transmitted securely over HTTPS and stored in our private operational database solely to address your suggestion or report. We never sell, rent, or share feedback correspondence with third-party marketers.
7. GDPR & CCPA/CPRA Rights
If you reside in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or California, you are entitled to statutory privacy rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, rectify, delete, or restrict processing of any personal information we hold. Because we operate without user accounts and do not maintain centralized student profiles, exercising these rights is straightforward: simply clearing your browser cookies and local storage removes all client data. For direct feedback inquiries, contact us at the address below.
